This site is dedicated to ensuring that I gain the maximum benefit from the resettlement process as possible.

At the two year exit point I contacted my Resettlement Information Officer who took me through the whole process, filling in forms and registering with the Career Transition Partnership. He was extremely helpful in signposting various agencies that could help me.

Although still keen on getting an extension of service this initial interview laid my nerves to rest and I submerged myself in as many brochures and magazines about resettlement as I could. I found QUEST Magazine extremely helpful in researching Educational qualifications and accreditation from Professional bodies. The various articles I felt were not really in depth enough although it did add a few pointers as to where to research various industries.

I booked myself onto a Career Transition Workshop at Tidworth Garrison which was extremely helpful in providing careers advice and CV preparation. The Careers advisor's were again very knowledgable and provided signposts to where relevant information could be found. Once again this three day workshop calmed my fears on stepping out into the big wide world.

I began to realise in the last two years of service that the Armed Forces provide a whole raft of Qualifications from Professional bodies such as the Institute of Leadership and Management(ILM). Although these cost money to join, they were at a lower cost due to some excellent effort on the part of the lead Training schools. Due to my rank and service qualifications I have been able to join the ILM, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Institute of Administrative Management (INSTAM). I am also in the process of applying for a City and Guilds Senior Award which hopefully will come through soon.
